Sunshine Movers offers 2 types of coverage options for your move.
At Sunshine Movers, we will document everything we promise to you and properly explain all coverages available for your items.
Everyone’s belongings have value, whether monetary or sentimental. Our company and staff take great care to ensure that nothing is damaged in the course of a move. In the rare instances where damage claims may happen, we want you to know what coverage options we provide. It’s important to us that you are satisfied with the amount of protection available for your belongings.
What does it mean when a moving company is listed as a licensed and insured business? Many people assume this means they include full value replacement coverage within their services. In reality, a licensed and insured moving company is basically one that has the proper cargo, liability, and auto coverage required by the Department of Transportation and federal, state, and other regulatory bodies. It has nothing to do with the type of coverage moving companies offer to the client during the move.
Moving companies typically offer two types of coverage options for their clients in regards to compensation for damages that may occur. The first coverage option is the state required minimum (.60 cents per lb) referred to as released value, and the second is full value protection.
Read below to find out about these coverage options and the EXTRA coverage Sunshine Movers proudly offers FREE of charge.
Released Value protection: (No additional charge)
The state minimum required amount of .60 cents per lb referred to as released value compensates your items at a value of .60 cents per pound in the event of damage. This means your items are valued based on weight rather than actual value.
What does this mean if any of your items are damaged? When your belongings are covered up to .60 cents per pound, a damaged TV weighing 20 pounds, would only be compensated up to $12.00 to repair or replace the item.
Do you want to get extra protection for your belongings? Full value protection might be the best coverage option for you.
Full value protection coverage is available at an additional cost. When you select this protection option, Sunshine Movers is liable for the replacement value of lost or damaged goods in your entire shipment.
With this coverage, we will repair, replace, or purchase items up to their current replacement value rather than value your items based on weight.
Full Value Protection: is available at additional cost. Under Full value protection, if any article is destroyed or damaged while in the care of Sunshine Movers, at our discretion, we will offer to repair the item, replace with a similar item or make a cash settlement for the cost of the repair or the current market replacement value.
Full value protection is sold at a rate of .89 percent of the total declared value.
Example: $50,000 of declared value would cost $445 ($50,000 x 0.0089).
Full Value Protection Terms:
1. If applicable the customer must submit an inventory of all high value assets with a value that exceeds $100 per pound.
2. The value of your shipment must be a minimum of $5 per pound of the estimated weight of your shipment.
Example: If your shipment weighs 3,000 pounds, your declared value must be set at a minimum of $15,000 (3,000 x $5).
Upon Request of full value protection, Sunshine Movers will make up an inventory of your items if one has not already been made. With this inventory the weight of your shipment can be determined which will allow us to calculate a cost for your coverage.
